Pretty standard rock memoir fare, but what reaches beyond the expected is a revealing, though sometimes rambling, look into a man who fears being alone and who still struggles to see his part in certain difficulties surrounding his drug and alcohol abuse, namely his failed marriages and the conviction of John "Scooter" Herring, the band's assistant tour manager, on drug-selling charges in 1976. Between the prologue and the eventual return to that embarrassing evening, Gregg tells stories of growing up with his brother in Daytona his love of music relationships with band members, management, and many women (including Cher) and his long history of drug and alcohol abuse. ![]()
